The young Irish pop-rock band Florence Road have been getting some big opportunities, including a gig supporting Olivia Rodrigo. That connection is emphasized on new single "Rabbits Can Swim," which reminds me of Rodrigo in ballad mode. The Phoebe Bridgers influence they've been projecting is in there too. The piano-led track features some references to further back in music history, too, e.g. "Listen to you playing Bowie/ So I'll turn and face the strange." It builds up a lot of emotional and musical heft by the end. Listen below.
