Lou Gramm, the legendary voice of Foreigner, has announced a new solo album titled Released. Ahead of the LP’s March 27th drop date, he’s unveiled the single “Young Love.”
As Gramm notes in a statement, the music on Released is culled from unreleased recordings of the 1980s that he has self-produced. The 10 original songs were co-written by Gramm and his onetime Black Sheep bandmate Bruce Turgon.
“My new album Released is a collection of unreleased songs that were recorded in the 1980s during the production of my 3 previous solo albums,” stated Gramm. “These are powerful, heartfelt songs with a great vintage sound taken right from my old multitrack tapes. This new album was a long time coming and it’s a real nostalgia trip.”
He continued, “When I pulled these songs out of the vault, I knew I had to finish them for my fans around the world, so they can experience what I did when I first heard them after all these years. It means a lot to me to finally see this album released, to be taken back in time when I hear this music again, to remember working with all these great musicians, and to feel that my catalog is now complete.”
The song “Young Love” features contributions from veteran bassist Tony Franklin and Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, with Lou’s brother Ben Gramm on drums.
While no longer a full-time member of Foreigner, Gramm occasionally performs with the band in concert, as Consequence witnessed last month at a show in Port Chester, New York. He’ll join the band for a run of shows in Florida in April, with tickets available here.
