Friko have announced a new album, Something Worth Waiting For, set to arrive later this spring and released its lead single, “Seven Degrees.” Listen to the track below.

Out on April 24th via ATO Records, the John Congleton-produced Something Worth Waiting For marks the band’s sophomore album following their 2024 debut, Where we’ve been, Where we go from here in 2024. It’s also their first release since expanding to a four-piece lineup, with guitarist Korgan Robb and bassist David Fuller joining vocalist/guitarist Niko Kapetan, drummer Bailey Minzenberger. The album is currently available for pre-order.

To celebrate the release of Something Worth Waiting For, Friko will perform a hometown show at the Metro in Chicago on April 25th. Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 6th, at 10 a.m. CST.

Arriving with the announcement of their new album is the lead single, “Seven Degrees.” The sing-along track is designed around calming guitar plucks and a surreal ambience that soothes the ear.

According to a press release, “Seven Degrees” comes from a linguistic misunderstanding by Friko vocalist Niko Kapitan about a popular phrase. “For a long time I thought the saying was ‘Seven degrees of separation,’ and not ‘six,’” he said. “There’s a lightness to that song, but really it’s about connection, and trying to stay close to the people you care about.”
