(G)I-DLE singer Minnie will be making her solo debut in January 2025, her label has confirmed.
Today (December 3), CUBE Entertainment released a statement confirming reports that (G)I-DLE’s Minnie would be making her solo debut next year. “Minnie is currently preparing her first solo album with the goal of releasing it in mid-January next year,” said in a statement, as translated by Soompi.
Minnie will become the fourth (G)I-DLE member to pursue solo music, following bandmates Yuqi, Soyeon and Miyeon. Leader Soyeon made her solo debut prior to joining the band in 2017, while Yuqi stated releasing solo music in 2021 and bandmate Miyeon released her first solo record in 2022.
The news arrives just several days after all five (G)I-DLE members confirmed that they have renewed their contracts with the label. Leader Soyeon first broke the news as part of an acceptance speech at the 2024 Melon Music Awards, which was confirmed earlier this week by CUBE Entertainment in a press statement.
Yuqi is the most recent member to release a solo project, having dropped her first Korean mini-album ‘YUQ1’ in in April this year. Prior to ‘YUQ1’, the Chinese idol spent majority of 2021 promoting as a solo musician in China, with the release of the single album A Page. which featured the songs ‘Giant’ and ‘Bonnie & Clyde’.
Meanwhile, the five piece last released music together in July with the mini-album ‘I Sway’, led by title track ‘Klaxon’. ‘I Sway’ was the follow-up to their January full-length record ‘[2]’, the album that won them the Record of the Year Grand Prize at the 2024 MMAs.
