Gia Margaret reveals details of new album, Singing

Singing arrives as Gia Margaret’s first vocal album since her 2018 release There’s Always Glimmer, which were followed by two primarily instrumental albums, Mia Gargaret in 2020 and Romantic Piano in 2023. Today, “Everyone Around Me Dancing” arrives as the first preview of a collection of songs marking her return to voice, following a vocal injury that restricted her ability to sing for years.

Speaking about the song, Margaret explains: “‘Everyone Around Me Dancing’ is a reflection on feeling isolated and the comfort found in that isolation. It is for taking a pause, for being in observation of a very scary and loud world and it is for finding stillness in our own inner worlds too.”

The album was recorded in London, Eau Claire, and Chicago in 2024 and 2025, with contributions from Frou Frou’s Guy Sigsworth, David Bazan, Amy Millan, Deb Talan, Kurt Vile, and Sean Carey, while Doug Saltzman co-produced and played on the record.

Speaking about reconnecting with herself through the process of making Singing, Margaret adds: “There was a time when I really didn’t know if I would sing again. So once I healed, there was a lot of internal pressure to come back strong. I didn’t know who I was anymore. So it felt like beginning again, and reconnecting with these very old, old parts of myself.”
