In 2023, the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One totally changed the way we think about Godzilla movies, meshing the giant lizard action with a deeply emotional character story set in post-World War II Japan. So excitement is high for the upcoming sequel Godzilla Minus Zero, with the new teaser trailer released today only amplifying the buzz.
Writer/director/visual effects supervisor Takashi Yamazaki shared the new teaser trailer at CinemaCon Tuesday before it debuted online. Set two years after the events of Minus One, the story follows the survivors of the last time the kaiju attacked. As teased at the end of the previous film, Godzilla has regenerated, and as the new preview reveals, he has his sights set on a bigger apple — New York City.

Godzilla Minus One earned over $113 million worldwide at the box office on a $15 million budget, making it the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla production. It also won the Academy Award for visual effects in 2024, becoming the first non-English language film and first Godzilla movie to ever do so. Still months away from release, Minus Zero is already marking its own firsts, as it’s the first Japanese film filmed for IMAX.
Godzilla Minus Zero is currently set to premiere November 3rd, 2026 in Japan, and November 6th in the United States. Check out the new teaser trailer below, as well as the 4K Ultra HD release of Godzilla Minus One on Amazon now.
The Americanized version of Godzilla is also set to stomp back into theaters, with Godzilla x Kong: Supernova arriving on March 26th, 2027. Serving as the sixth entry in the MonsterVerse franchise, it follow 2024’s pretty good and hilariously bad Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
