Gojira, Pantera, and Slayer Bring the Metal at Final Black Sabbath Concert

Three of the most powerful metal bands on the planet were among the acts to perform at the “Back to the Beginning” final Black Sabbath concert on Saturday (July 5th) in Birmingham, England, as Gojira, Pantera, and Slayer all delivered electrifying sets.

Gojira performed “Stranded,” “Silvera,” and their Olympics song “Mea Culpa” with opera singer Marina Viotti before closing with a cover of Sabbath’s “Under the Sun.” Meanwhile, Pantera came out swinging with a 1-2 punch of their own classics “Cowboys From Hell” and “Walk,” before taking on two Sabbath songs: “Planet Caravan” (which they famously covered on their album Far Beyond Driven) and “Electric Funeral.”

Slayer, who reunited to play select shows last year, kicked off their set with “Disciple” and “War Ensemble” before covering Sabbath’s “Wicked World.” The legendary thrash act then played “South of Heaven” to close out their performance, which saw the crowd break out in to massive circle pits.

Those sets came after mini-sets from Tool, Alice in Chains, Gojira, Mastodon, Rival Sons, Anthrax, Halestorm, and Lamb of God, along with a couple of all-star jams.

Livestream access to “Back to the Beginning” is now available to purchase, with a VOD replay accessible through July 7th.
