GUTSLIT Return With Ferocious New Single "I, Berzerker"

Mumbai, India's extreme metal juggernauts Gutslit have roared back into action with their blistering new single "I, Berzerker," marking their first release since 2023's Carnal and the opening salvo of a new chapter in the band's evolution. Released independently, the track finds Gutslit doubling down on their reputation as one of the most uncompromising and visceral forces in modern death metal.

"I, Berzerker" is a raw declaration of intent. Written as a defiant response to the idea that bands should soften or mellow with age, the song captures Gutslit at their most primal and focused. Blistering riffs, punishing rhythms, and guttural vocals collide in a tightly controlled assault that balances surgical precision with unrestrained brutality.

Drawing inspiration from the myth of the Berzerker — the warrior consumed by battle rage — the track reframes that legend as a metaphor for creative freedom. Lyrically, "I, Berzerker" explores instinct, release, and total immersion in the act of creation, with violence and fury serving as symbols of purpose, expression, and identity rather than destruction alone.

The single also marks a significant turning point for the band's lineup. Now operating as a five-piece, Gutslit introduce a dual-guitar attack featuring Ishwar Hariharan and Aditya Swaminathan, adding renewed melodic depth and dynamic interplay to the band's signature savagery. Anchoring the chaos are longtime members Aditya Barve on vocals, Gurdip Singh Narang on bass, and Aaron Pinto on drums, forming a core that remains as vicious and relentless as ever.

Production duties were handled by the band themselves, with drums recorded at Gray Spark Studio and guitars and bass tracked at Altar Studio. Engineering was led by Saurabh Lodha, with vocals engineered by Ashwin Shriyan.

Mixing and mastering were completed by Mendel Bij de Liej (Ex-Aborted) and the striking single artwork was created by drummer Aaron Pinto under his visual alias Kidsquidy.
