Hayley Williams and Jeff Tweedy teamed up to pay tribute to their “Ffunny Ffriends” at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, April 13th, performing a cover of Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s 2010 single. Watch a replay below.
Williams’ backing band joined her and Tweedy for a laidback, groovy performance, which allowed the Paramore and Wilco frontpersons to shine in their own ways. A tambourine-playing Williams handled most of the vocals, while Tweedy jammed a solo on his crescent-moon-shaped guitar. There were great all-around vibes.
Elsewhere in the episode, Tweedy sat down with Colbert for an interview alongside Nick Offerman, during which the artist and actor spoke about their longtime friendship. Offerman recalled casting Tweedy for a role on Parks and Recreation as a “washed-up Midwestern rocker” before Colbert asked to join their friend group with writer George Saunders. Check out the segment below.
Williams, Tweedy, and Offerman are all on tour. Offerman is wrapping up his “Big Woodchuck” book tour (get tickets here) later this month, while Tweedy is set to link up with Wilco for a string of spring and summer dates (get tickets here), and Williams is in the midst of her first solo tour (get tickets here).
As for Colbert, The Late Show is ending its broadcast run in late May. Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen will be moving up to its 11:35 p.m. time slot for the 2026-2027 season.
