After the relatively chill adventures of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, HBO’s world of Westeros is about to get fired up. The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon is set to return for its third season this June, picking up where the extremely dramatic (and exciting) second season premiere left off.
This first teaser trailer offers a first look at Season 2’s promise of epic war between Team Black and Team Green for the Iron Throne — a war fueled by both armies on the ground and dragon-fire in the skies. At the crux of it is Alicent (Olivia Cooke)’s deal with Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), something which kicks off no shortage of epic action.
In addition to established series regulars like Matt Smith, D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, and Cooke, Season 3 also features new cast members including James Norton, Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, and Tom Cullen. The season is set to be the penultimate one of the series, with showrunner Ryan Condal stating that Season 4 will be the last.
