In a recent interview with Japan's BURRN! magazine, Megadeth's bassist James LoMenzo was asked about Black Sabbath's massive final show, Back To The Beginning, and how that of the "Big Four" thrash metal bands, Megadeth was the only one not on the lineup.
It was pointed out that Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax were in attendance, and that Megadeth was not to which LoMenzo replied (via Blabbermouth), "I don't believe anybody asked us, which was fine. Not everyone gets invited to every party."
LoMenzo continues to explain Megadeth's schedule around Ozzy Osbourne's last show, "But at the same time, when we were in Europe last week, David said that he was reaching out to everybody and telling them that we were in the neighbourhood and that we were close enough to come. And if they wanted us to, we could stay over a few days and work it out…."
However, "It didn't get accomplished."
LoMenzo is quick to recount his own reaction when he saw people's first surprise at the Back To The Beginning lineup and how Megadeth weren't on the bill. Yet, LoMenzo doesn't seem too bothered himself by not receiving an invite, as he talks about his own relationship with the original Black Sabbath drummer, Bill Ward, and the fact that he had known about the show for months and months.
Now, will Sharon Osbourne just tell us who she disinvited, please?
