After teasing it on tryingtimes.info, James Blake has announced his seventh LP. Trying Times, the follow-up to 2023’s fantastic Playing Robots Into Heaven, is due out on March 13 via Good Boy Records. It features Dave and Monica Martin, and according to a press release, “it’s a record about being in love whilst battling the limits of the self against a backdrop of global uncertainty.” See the cover art and tracklist below.
He’s shared “Death of Love,” which samples Leonard Cohen’s “You Want it Darker.” He’s performed the song live in the past, and along with the studio version there’s a new performance video directed by Harrison Adair and featuring the London Welsh Men’s Choir. Watch that below.
