James Van Der Beek, star of Dawson’s Creek, has died, aged 48.
The news was announced in a post on social media by the actor’s family which read “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace.”
It continued: “There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
The star was diagnosed with bowel cancer in the latter half of 2023 and later publicly revealed the news in November 2024.
The father of six starred in many popular shows and films in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Dawson’s Creek and Varsity Blues.
