What started off as a standard, run of the mill interview for Jason Momoa based on his first few answers, by the end, he seemed like he had actually enjoyed himself, even so far as going to ask the Track Star* host, "What's the name of your show?" Saying that, "One day, I'm going to watch it."
Featuring on the popular YouTube and social media short video series Track Star*, Jason Momoa put his metal knowledge to the test in a quick trivia game. The premise is simple – the person being tested puts on headphones, and tries to guess the song playing.
Balancing between a pretty run-of-the-mill popular classic metal playlist, and some more casual questions, Momoa takes it in stride, explaining that he actually found Black Sabbath through his love for Metallica. "I actually found Sabbath through Metallica," he answered originally, saying that he, "grew up with a single mother who raised [him] on Motown, so it was definitely all Motown and blues and jazz…"
From there, he explained, "I found funk like Primus and Red Hot Chili Peppers and that kind of stuff through skateboarding and then Metallica; just like when you see MTV… seeing [the music video for] “One“, the first metal video — I think it was one of the first metal videos — it blew my mind. And then through Metallica [I discovered Black Sabbath].”
