It looks like there’s some drama in the world of Jesus Piece. Three members of the Philadelphia metalcore band (guitarist David Updike, guitarist John DiStefano and drummer Luis Aponte) posted on the band’s Instagram that Jesus Piece “has been dead for some time” because “a member quit abruptly for personal reasons and we felt wrong continuing without him.” The statement goes on to say that “anything you see associated with this name or similar, playing our music and using our art, is not related to anything we worked for over the last 10 years” and that “to try and continue that without us or in spite of us, is a mockery of what we’ve done and tried to do.”
Vocalist Aaron Heard isn’t mentioned by name in the statement, and the statement comes as Aaron shared an Instagram story of the flyer for Phoenix festival One Big Party that includes an artist billed as “Je$us Piece”–Aaron wrote, “That’s me and the homies.” In a since-deleted Instagram story from the Jesus Piece band account that you can see a screenshot of on the r/Hardcore Reddit, the other members wrote, “We never accepted this fest. No idea who Je$us piece is.”
This story is probably still developing. Meanwhile, see Jesus Piece’s post and a screenshot of Aaron’s Instagram story below…
