Jim White of Dirty Three, The Hard Quartet and more has announced new solo album Inner Day which will be out October 24 via Drag City. The album was co-produced by White and Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control) and features Zoh Amba on the track “I Don’t Do / Grand Central.”
Says Jim’s Dirty Three bandmate Warren Ellis: “Mr. White has forged one of the most distinct and challenging careers in music. All heart and guts. Take no prisoners. His first solo album blew my mind. He’d cracked it. The mother fucker. The album we are all trying to make. Evasive, inclusive, single minded and edited with the perfection I’ve come to expect from Jim. [Inner Day] is a miracle. The man. The drums. That White style. The heartbeat of life.”
Jim has shared Inner Day’s contemplative title track which comes with a video by Tran featuring him going through his day, making a meal and doing a little housework. You can watch that below.
Meanwhile, Jim has announced a pair of US shows with The Saints’ Ed Kuepper in support of their collaborative album from earlier this year. Joining them will be former Bad Seeds member Mick Harvey and the shows are at LA’s 2220 Arts + Archives on November 4 and NYC’s TV Eye on November 17.
Those two shows are while Ed Kuepper and Ivor Hay will be touring as The Saints, backed by Mick Harvey, Mark Arm (Mudhoney), and Peter Oxley (Sunnyboys). Dates include Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on 11/14.
The Hard Quartet just played a free show this weekend at Union Pool’s patio.
