Joaquin Phoenix Faces Off Against Pedro Pascal in Trailer for Ari Aster’s Eddington: Watch

In the trailer for Ari Aster’s new A24 film, Eddington, Joaquin Phoenix plays the sheriff of the titular city, who comes face-to-face with the mayor, played by Pedro Pascal. Watch it below.

Taking place in the fictional Eddington, New Mexico during the height of the pandemic, the movie revolves around the toll of rising tensions between neighbors in the formerly tight-knit community. “I used to think that you were some big deal, but I am a much better human being than you,” Phoenix says to Pascal at one point in the trailer.

Written and directed by Aster, Eddington also stars Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, with Emma Stone and Austin Butler. It opens in theaters on July 18th.
