Joey Bada$$ Announces 2025 Tour, Drops New Single “Dark Aura”: Stream

1 week ago 9

Joey Bada$$ hasn’t dropped a new album since 2022’s excellent 2000. Sure, he’s been plenty busy since then — feuding with Ray Vaughn, earning his very own day in New York City — but the world isn’t the same without the young MC’s singular sonic presence. Luckily, that all changes as Bada$$ roars back with a brand new record and a corresponding tour.

Announced last month during a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lonely at the Top serves as Bada$$’s fourth studio album to date. Until now, we’ve heard one song tentatively from Lonely, as Bada$$ debuted the blistering “ABK” during the aforementioned Kimmel appearance. Not much else is known about the record (i.e., tracklist, recording details, etc.) beyond the fact that it was pushed back from August 1st to August 29th. (Though there is still some speculation abounding, of course.)

That move likely explains the vitriol expressed across the project’s latest single, “Dark Aura.” Per Billboard, Bada$$’s label, Columbia, were behind the push back, and the rapper is happy to tell everybody everywhere of the depths of his irritation. “You ain’t talkin’ money, you must be talkin’ a different language,” Bada$$ declares over the Chuck Strangers-produced beat, “Independent mindset, we ain’t f**kin’ with the majors / Can’t get back our time spent, gotta treat it like it’s sacred.” Factor in the video, with Bada$$ cruising in a luxury car and hitting the punching bag at home, and this is “Mr. 1999” at his most brutal and defiant.

You’ll likely hear both “ABK” and “Dark Aura” (and maybe even more venom toward Columbia) when Bada$$ embarks on the “Dark Aura” tour this fall. The 25-date outing kicks off October 16th in Boston, visits the likes of Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas, and Houston, among many more, before wrapping up on November 21 in Philadelphia. Joining Bada$$ on the road are TDE’s own Ab-Soul and North Carolina MC Rapsody. See the full list of tour dates below.

For Joey Bada$$’s upcoming tour, a Live Nation pre-sale begins on Wednesday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster (use code RHYTHM), with a public on-sale following on Thursday, August 21st at 10:00 a.m. local time.
