John Stamos Plays Papa Roach’s “Last Resort” on Drums as He Hears It for First Time: Watch

Actor John Stamos was challenged with playing Papa Roach’s signature song “Last Resort” on drums as he heard it for the first time, and the Full House star earned high praise for his efforts.

Stamos took part in the latest edition of Drumeo’s popular “For the First Time” series, in which a drummer attempts to perform a song they’ve never heard before. Amazingly, the veteran actor had never heard Papa Roach’s ubiquitous hit “Last Resort,” at one point asking if it was Ozzy Osbourne.

As opposed to previous “For the First Time” episodes, which are filmed at Drumeo’s studio, this time host Brandon Toews traveled to Stamos’ house, where the actor has a full drum setup. Stamos is no rookie on the drums, having played with The Beach Boys on the regular, as well as guesting with the likes of B.B. King, Tom Jones, and others, not to mention jamming with Bruce Springsteen and John Fogerty one time.

Toews first played “Last Resort” without the drum track, with Stamos confirming he didn’t know the song. The actor then went through a couple of takes, with his wife and son walking through at one point holding their ears.

After a few tips from Toews, Stamos performed his final take in which he delivered impressive drumming throughout the tune. His efforts garnered very positive comments on YouTube, including, “Personally, I don’t think it’s fair that John Stamos is this talented AND handsome. Really couldn’t have the decency to be only one.”

At the end of it, a very sweaty and exhausted Stamos declared, “I would tell every drummer that ever gets a chance to do this, ‘Don’t!'” He then added, “No, this was cool. Gimme another one.” To which Toews quipped, “Get ready for Meshuggah meets John Stamos,” with the actor responding, “What’s Meshuggah?”
