Singer, author and performance artist Joseph Keckler has very distinct style: gothy, Wagnerian, surreal, and arch. All of which are present on his new song “Believer.” Set against a circular swirl of strings and voices, Keckler shows off his vocal range, which can go from menacing to ethereal in a blink.
“I loved building the layers of this song, scavenging for sounds and words and weaving them together,” Joseph says. “It was a largely solitary, pleasurably delirious process.” The song premieres in this post and you can listen below.
The best way to experience Keckler’s art is at one of his multimedia performances which combine music, storytelling, humor and short films in a very entertaining way. Folks in NYC can catch him at Joe’s Pub on February 3 with Jesse Paris Smith. Tickets are on sale.
