Nashville country artist Joshua Hedley has announced a new album, All Hat, due out on October 24 via New West. It’s his third album, the follow-up to 2022’s great Neon Blue, and he produced it with Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel. Members of Asleep at the Wheel also served as Hedley’s backing band for the album, which is a collection of Western Swing tunes. “When I first heard Asleep at the Wheel and their Bob Wills tribute, it blew my mind that there was a band out there still playing this kind of music,” Hedley says, adding, “At its core Western Swing is just dance music. Bob Wills didn’t play theatres; he played dance halls. The music is for dancing, and that’s what I wanted to come through on these songs.”
The first single is “Fresh Hot Biscuits,” and you can watch the video, directed by Joshua Shoemaker, below. “I wrote it the night before,” Hedley says. “I sat down and wrote it and thought it was pretty good, but when we recorded it the next day, it really came to life.”
Hedley will be on tour with his band The Hedliners in September in the Midwest and in Texas. See all dates below.
