An official music video for Juice WRLD’s new, posthumous single ‘Empty Out Your Pockets’ has been created by the Fortnite team.
‘Empty Out Your Pockets’ comes from Juice WRLD’s final album ‘The Party Never Ends’, which was released on Friday (November 29).
The track was premiered in Fortnite, during the grand finale of the Chapter Two Remix event with the in-game concert also featuring appearances from Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, Eminem. After the virtual gig, a Fortnite-inspired video for ‘Empty Out Your Pockets’ was shared.
Juice WRLD’s mother Carmela Wallace called the concert an “incredible tribute” to the late musician. “I know he would be overjoyed to see how his love for games continues to bring people together across different spaces, just like his music does.” The rapper, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, passed away in 2019 after an overdose.
In a press release, she added: “’The Party Never Ends’ is finally here. I’m glad Jarad‘s fans are getting the music they have been anxiously awaiting! When Jarad was a toddler, he developed a love for globes that lasted for years; he was fascinated with spinning them. Reflecting on that, I realise that was prophetic of what would come. He grew to become the artist Juice WRLD, and touched people worldwide through his music.
“His lyrics were heartfelt and expressed his challenges with mental health and addiction. Jarad’s transparency made people feel like they were not alone; I consider him a pioneer in normalising the conversation about mental health. I hope that his music continues to have a positive impact on the lives of others around the world, and it is my prayer that people do not suffer in silence.”
Following Juice WRLD’s death, Wallace opened the Live Free 999 organisation in his honour. The charity’s aim is to “just normalise the conversation around mental health” and “take the stigma away from” seeking help for mental illness.
