Earlier this year, Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore joined forces to release the collaborative album Tragic Magic. Now, two ambient artists are announcing its followup: a score for the Jessie Diggins documentary Threshold. Three songs from it are out today.Threshold, directed by Lars and Torsten Brinkema, focuses on Diggins' personal journey as an Olympic champion cross-country skier. It hit streaming today, and "Cold Open," "Sick And Tired," and "Gallivare 10km" are the first previews of the score. Lattimore says:Fresh off of recording our album Tragic Magic in 2025, we were asked to co-score this documentary about the brilliant cross-country ski champion Jessie Diggins. While Tragic Magic had constraints of instruments we were able to use, including historic, delicate and mysterious ones, along with those constraints, we had total sonic freedom. In the case of Threshold, the sky was the limit with instrumentation and we held an expansive palette, but our music existed within the framework of Jessie's life and the vision of the directors.
