Chaltam-born producer and songwriter Thomas Hull, known professionally as Kid Harpoon, has been announced as the first Producer In Residence at London's Abbey Road Studios.

The new role follows singer-songwriter Jordan Rakei's Artist In Residence title at Abbey Road, and will allow for Kid Harpoon to have complete access to the studio, while he will also be consulted on its music tech and innovation work. Kid Harpoon has been credited for his production work on David Byrne's recent album Who Is The Sky?, as well as co-production on Miley Cyrus' GRAMMY-winning single, "Flowers".

As Producer In Residence, Kid Harpoon will also take part in Abbey Road's free education programmes, including Abbey Road Amplify, which will be expanding to Manchester for the first time next month to host panels and studio workshops.

“I’m beyond excited to become Producer in Residence at Abbey Road. In this position, I’m hoping to use my experience to help guide some of the incredible up-and-coming talent we have in the UK while they navigate their way through what can be a difficult industry. Mark and the team have a real desire to give back and develop new talent, which is something I’m really passionate about. To be able to contribute to the Abbey Road legacy in any way is an honour, and I can’t wait to get stuck in!” Kid Harpoon says of the new position.
