Life of Agony Play First Show Since Singer’s Detransition Announcement: Video + Setlist

Life of Agony performed at a New York City benefit show for Sick of It All singer Lou Koller on Saturday night (November 23rd), marking the band’s first gig since their singer, Keith Caputo (formerly Mina Caputo), announced that he was detransitioning back to male.

The concert, dubbed “I’m in the Fight with Lou,” took place at Irving Plaza, and also featured performances by Municipal Waste and Vision of Disorder. The proceeds went toward Koller’s medical bills, following the hardcore legend’s announcement earlier this year that doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his esophagus.

Life of Agony ripped through nine songs during their set, with video footage showing Caputo (wearing a Sick 0f It All T-shirt) delivering a high-energy performance and interacting with the crowd throughout the gig. Seven of the songs were from the band’s seminal 1993 debut album, River Runs Red.

Last week, Caputo revealed via a video message on Instagram that he was in the process of detransitioning. He said he had been off hormones for six or seven years, and planned to have his breast implants removed this coming January.

“I will be lovingly living in my divine male self,” said Caputo in the video post. “I’ve cured my gender dysphoria. It took many years. A lot of walking through the fire, but I rose above my misunderstandings of my soul and my spirit.”

He added, “I’m making this video because a lot of people are throwing me shade, and saying I look ugly, and I look like a man, and all that shit. And it’s like, ‘Honey, I am a man, I always was a man.’ You’re just not used to hearing authentic people speak.”

Caputo also noted that he has reclaimed the first name Keith, after being known as Mina since coming out as transgender in 2011.

Life of Agony will hit the road with Biohazard for a co-headlining 2025 UK/European tour starting in February. Pick up tickets here.
