Chicago-based drummer and producer Makaya McCraven has returned with a new project, four new singles, “Prime,” “What a Life,” “News Feed,” and “Sweet Stuff”, from four new EPs, Techno Logic, The People’s Mixtape, Hidden Out!, and PopUp Shop — all to be compiled on a new 2xLP and 2xCD physical release, Off the Record.

The collection of EPs follows McCraven's 2022 studio album In These Times, and is derived from a series of live recordings across London, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago — later refined at his home studio.

Several collaborators are featured across the EPs, including Ben LaMar Gay, Theon Cross, Junius Paul, Joel Ross, and more. Alongside the new singles, McCraven has also released a live video for “Choo Choo,” filmed at Chicago’s Thalia Hall earlier this month.

McCraven is presently embarking on his Off the Record world tour, which will continue through the US, Europe, and the UK into November. This will include a stop at London’s KOKO for the EFG London Jazz Festival (19 November).

Techno Logic, The People’s Mixtape, Hidden Out!, and PopUp Shop are due for release on 31 October via XL Recordings / International Anthem.
