Makthaverskan Announce New Album Glass And Bones: Hear “Pity Party”

The dreamy, jangly Swedish post-punk greats Makthaverskan have not graced us with an album since 2021's För Allting, but on this Black Friday they've given us reason to maintain the Thanksgiving spirit. The band has announced that a new album called Glass And Bones is coming in April, and they're offering us a first peak today with the release of new single "Pity Party."

We don't know much about the new LP yet beyond its release date, but the song suggests Makthaverskan are extremely good at writing immaculate C86-indebted guitar-pop tunes that surge forward in fits of unbound emotion. Hearing Maja Milner's voice ratchet up in pitch and intensity as she sings, "And what happened to us honey/ Now it's a pity party/ Building up an army/ Winning all the time/ In my mind/ Your war lies" — it's quite the rush.

Listen below.

"Pity Party" is out now via Welfare Sounds & Records.
