LESSSS, Creeds, Onlynumbers, and 6EJOU, have left STEƎR Management following sexual abuse allegations involving Shlømo, CARV, and Odymel.
The contemporary hard techno scene has undergone a shakeup as sexual misconduct allegations leveled against DJs Shlømo, Odymel, and CARV have numerous artists to cut ties with STEƎR Management, the talent agency representing all of them.
On Wednesday, February 18, former STEƎR associate bradnolimit began sharing apparent screen shots of testimonies from women who accused Shlømo (real name Shaun Baron-Carvais), Odymel (real name Antoine Lauffer), and anonymous artist CARV of various forms of sexual misconduct in an Instagram post. One alleged that Baron-Carvais was involved with the “grooming of 16old colombian girls,” and another alleged that Lauffer “tried to pay the silence of the girl he assaulted.”
STEƎR Management addressed the accusations in a statement on Thursday, February 19. The French agency wrote that “when allegations multiply and concern artists on our roster, inaction is not an option,” and that “we have decided to suspend our collaborations with the artists involved.”
STEƎR shared that it is conducting a “thorough review” of the information available to determine how to proceed in the future. In the meantime, the firm’s roster has been completely removed from its website, and all of its Instagram posts have been wiped. A spokesperson on behalf of STEƎR did not immediately respond to EDM Identity’s request for comment.
At least six artists have publicly ended their business relationship with STEƎR on account of the allegations: LESSSS, Onlynumbers, Creeds, 6EJOU, William Luck, and Nate Visstick.
“I am no longer part of STEƎR in any way,” wrote LESSSS (real name Leslie Goldsztejn) in a statement. “The behaviors described in these allegations are things I do not support, tolerate, or condone under any circumstances. I was absolutely not aware of these situations before the recent revelations, and I am as shocked and disturbed as many of you by what has come to light.”
“We all deserve a safe space,” wrote 6EJOU in a post of his own. “Given the current circumstances, I’ve chosen to step down from steer management immediately, prioritizing the well being of those affected. Everyone deserves security and support.”
In a Sunday, February 22 Instagram Story, Baron-Carvais argued that he is the subject of “a campaign of slander and defamation.” He explained, “The information being circulated about me is deliberately distorted, taken out of context, or entirely fabricated, with the sole intent of causing harm. As a result, I have decided together with my legal counsel, to take the necessary steps to examine the appropriate legal action in responding to this unfounded campaign.”
Today, February 23, Lauffer clarified the details of the accusation leveled against him in an Instagram post. He stated that a former sexual partner alleged that he made unwanted advances toward her in a state of somnambulism while they were in bed following a consensual encounter, and that he has no memory of the incident.
“At this stage, a preliminary investigation is therefore underway,” Lauffer wrote. “Two confrontation hearings have taken place. No judicial decision has been made, nor has there been a trial, as the preliminary investigation has not been closed.”
Lauffer also distanced himself from the rest of the STEƎR artists’ allegations in his statement. “I also want to make clear that my situation is distinct from those mentioned in recent days concerning other artists from my former agency,” he wrote. “I fully dissociate myself from all the problematic and repetitive behavior that has been consciously committed and denounced in recent days.”
This is a developing story and EDM Identity will provide additional information as it becomes available.
