Mel Brooks Reveals Official Title for Spaceballs 2 in New Teaser: Watch

It’s actually happening: Spaceballs 2 is coming to theaters in 2027, and in a new teaser video Mel Brooks has confirmed its official title: Spaceballs: The New One. (Yes, in the first movie, Yogurt said it’d be called The Search for More Money, but Brooks found the money, it turns out.)

The long-awaited sequel to Mel Brooks’ classic Star Wars spoof from 1987 reunites original cast members Brooks, Bill Pullman, George Wyner, Rick Moranis, and Daphne Zuniga along with new folks like Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan.

Josh Greenbaum (Strays, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) takes over directing duties from Brooks, who turns 100 years old this June. Spaceballs sequel talks have been rumored since 2015 (around the same time that another space-set franchise was returning to theaters), but it did also take a few decades for a sequel to History of the World, Part I to happen.

The return of Moranis is exciting for any comedy fan, as the actor has been largely absent from the big and small screens in recent years, beyond occasionally reprising his past characters. (In 2018, he even returned to the role of Dark Helmet for a guest appearance on The Goldbergs.) Also notable is the casting of Lewis Pullman as the son of Queen Vespa (Zuniga) and Lone Star (Bill Pullman, Lewis’s father in real life).

Spaceballs 2 will schwartz its way into theaters on April 23rd, 2027. Check out the title announcement from Brooks below, and for more, here’s how comedians like Nick Kroll and Ike Barinholtz are continuing Brooks’ legacy.
