Minus The Bear are back after a seven-year hiatus to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Menos El Oso, and to help mark the occasion, bassist Cory Murchy took us down memory lane with a video that finds him discussing 5 albums he loves by bands Minus The Bear toured with back in the day (with bass players that he has a soft spot for). Cory is a super engaging presence and this video is highly recommended for Minus The Bear fans, bass players, and just anyone who cares about early/mid 2000s underground rock music. Minus The Bear warmed up for their Menos El Oso 20th anniversary tour with a last-minute, intimate hometown show this past weekend. The tour begins in proper on October 3 in Tacoma, WA and it includes Las Vegas’ Best Friends Forever festival, three NYC shows, and more. The NYC shows happen at Brooklyn Steel on November 7, and Irving Plaza on November 8 & 9 with Speedy Ortiz on nights 1 & 2 and Wild Arrows on night 3. All dates are listed below.
Minus The Bear also just released their 20th anniversary deluxe edition of Menos El Oso via Suicide Squeeze. It features a remastered version of the original album on one 12”, and five unreleased original demos and an etching by none other than Cory Murchy on the flip side of the other, along with a 24-page archive photo journal from the band’s personal collection called Los Archivos Del Oso. We’ve got an exclusive coke bottle green vinyl variant of the reissue and that’s available right now in the BV shop.
