"Third Side of the Moon" has been a staple of the band's live show for the past two years, and follows previous singles "Look How Far" and "Picking Dragons Pockets" as the latest preview of the band's first new album in five years.
An Eraser and a Maze references a theory in physics that that past, present, and future all exist simultaneously, and the passage of time is an illusion, offering a body of work in which every era of Modest Mouse coexists at the same time. The album also coincides with the band's 30th anniversary of the release of their debut studio album, This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing To Talk About.
