Neil Young Gifts Everyone in Greenland Free Access to Full Catalog

Neil Young is gifting free access to his catalog to the 57,000 residents of Greenland via NeilYoungArchives.com.

In a new blog post, he said he hoped “my Music and Music Films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government” — a reference to President Trump‘s coercive efforts to acquire Greenland from Denmark. (Trump has dropped it for now, agreeing instead to an expanded military base.)

Young wrote,

I’m honored to give a free year’s access to neilyoungarchives.com to all of our friends in Greenland. I hope my Music and Music Films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government. It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality. This is an offer of Peace and Love. All the music I have made during the last 62 years is yours to hear. You can renew for free as long as you are in Greenland. We do hope other organizations will follow in the spirit of our example.
LOVE EARTH
Neil

Music has healing properties. With any luck, this really will ease some of the stress of living through the second Trump presidency.

This is hardly the first time Young has commented on the Trump administration. Two weeks ago, the legendary artist called ICE’s presence in Minnesota “the biggest mess I’ve ever witnessed.”
