The new Canadian series Heated Rivalry, streaming on HBO Max, made sure that hockey romance fans had a very hot holiday season. Now the show, based on the books by Rachel Reid, has released the two lead singles from its soundtrack by composer Peter Peter. The two songs reflect the tempestuous relationship between rival NHL players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), with the EDM-driven “Rivalry” featured in the show’s intense gameplay scenes, as dreamy “It’s You” serves as a love theme.
Heated Rivalry has become a pop culture phenomenon since its debut in November 2025, notably helping artists like Wolf Parade and T.A.T.u. receive massive Spotify streaming bumps due to being featured in the show’s first season. A second season has been greenlit by production company Crave Media, and the full soundtrack for Season 1 is set to debut this month via Milan Records.
