Nine Inch Nails are back on the road with their dazzling Peel It Back Tour with Boys Noize. They played their first show since September on Thursday night at New Orleans’ Smoothie King Yum Center.

This was also the first show NIN played with Stu Brooks, who has taken over bass duties from Alessandro Cortini. Other than that there were no big changes to the tour from what they did last year — not surprising given the very high tech nature of a show like this. After the opening DJ set by Boys Noize, the curtain in the center of the arena dropped to reveal Trent Reznor behind the piano on the small B-Stage to perform Pretty Hate Machine’s “Something I Can Never Have,” which was making its tour debut. Then he pulled out “Non-Entity,” which hadn’t been played since 2009, as Atticus Ross, Brooks, and Robin Finck joined one by one, and then they played “Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now).”

From there, the show transitioned to the Main Stage for a set that included “Wish,” “March of the Pigs,” “Reptile,” “Copy of A,” and more, with the eye-popping live-manipulated visuals projected on multiple curtains on the stage. Then it was back to the B-Stage (the “Rave Stage”) for the awesome collab set with Boys Noize that is now being called Nine Inch Noize and featured remixed club versions of “Vessel,” “Closer,” “Parasite,” and Grammy-winning TRON:Ares song “As Alive as You Need Me to Be.”

It was then back to the Main Stage for a second set with the full-band, including “Somewhat Damaged,” “The Perfect Drug,” “I’m Afraid of Americans,” and more before wrapping up with “Head Like a Hole” and “Hurt.”

Check out Nine Inch Nails’ full New Orleans setlist, and video from the show, below.

The Peel It Back Tour returns to the NYC area for a Valentine’s Day show in NJ on February 14 at Prudential Center. After the tour wraps up, NIN and Boys Noize will join forces at Coachella for a full set as Nine Inch Noize. All dates are listed below.
