Dutch artist NYCO officially remixed “Like A G6” by Far East Movement, The Cataracs, and DEV. We caught up with him to dive into all the details!
Dutch artist NYCO is a relatively new name in techno, but he’s taking the scene by storm. His music pulls elements from the old school and seamlessly combines them with the genre’s driving force today. It’s no surprise that NYCO has caught the attention of top industry figures, leading to his latest release: an official remix of “Like A G6” by Far East Movement, The Cataracs, and DEV.
Remixing such an iconic record is no easy task, but NYCO was confident in his ability as a producer to do the original justice while putting his own spin on it. “‘Like A G6’ is one of those tracks that instantly brings back a feeling of pure nostalgia, so my main goal was to respect that nostalgic feeling while translating it into my own world,” he told EDM Identity.
Instead of flipping it completely, NYCO decided to focus on enhancing the attitude and energy that made the original so timeless. This is easier said than done, so he dove back to the basics to begin this process. “I approached it by stripping things back first, finding the core elements that really define the record, and then rebuilding it with my own rhythmic language and textures,” he said.
The main challenge, however, was finding the balance between familiarity and surprise: “making it feel fresh, but still unmistakably ‘Like A G6,'” according to NYCO. “I knew I had to use the vocal topline of the original and create something new and refreshing with it,” he continued. With this new remix finally out in the world, it’s safe to say that NYCO succeeded.
Recalling the moment he learned that Universal Music Group wanted this remix, he expressed that it felt surreal, but also very motivating. “Having the attention of a label like Universal is a huge milestone, and I’m grateful for the trust they’ve shown in my vision,” he said. Still, he isn’t letting this big release change the way he works or creates.

For me, it’s more of a confirmation that staying patient, focused, and true to your sound can open doors — even at that level. It pushes me to raise my standards even higher moving forward.
NYCOThroughout his career, NYCO has advocated for authenticity above all. He started out by making harder music, but the rapidly growing contemporary style of hard techno came to occupy his focus. NYCO felt that he never truly had a chance to find his own sound or discover his preferences.
He always remained true to developing a natural style for his project, but he didn’t want to chase trends to fit into a box anymore. Eventually, this led to a complete change in his sound.
Consistency and honesty comes through in the music, and people can feel when something is made without compromise. If that was one of the reasons I was chosen for this remix, then that’s incredibly meaningful to me. It means my identity as an artist is translating clearly.
NYCO’s remix of “Like A G6” is only the beginning of a milestone year all about growing in a very intentional manner. “I’m focused on releasing music that feels timeless rather than rushed, and building a body of work that really defines where I’m headed sonically,” he said.
Fans can expect NYCO to push his sound forward while staying connected to the dancefloor through more original releases, carefully chosen collaborations, and unique live moments. “The goal is to keep evolving without losing the core energy that people connect with, and to keep surprising them along the way,” he said. “I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I hope this is just the beginning of many more special moments to come!”
