In 2015, Oakwood shared their debut EP Summer, which contained three tracks of vehement Midwest emo. The Texas-based band then fell into obscurity and the music was taken off streaming platforms. A few years ago, the group reunited and reuploaded the songs, which gained traction. "I'm Still Cheering For The 1980 US Hockey Team" specifically took off. Now, they're getting ready to release their debut album Blurred Away, and the new single "Fields Behind The House" is out today.
The trio consists of vocalist Mathew Dwyer, drummer Noah Roots, and guitarist/bassist TJ James. They unveiled the single "Footnote" last year and announced Blurred Away this past March alongside the track "A Tangled Mess." Blurred Away was recorded with Phil Odom (Glare, Militarie Gun) and mastered by Grammy Award-winning producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight).
