The collection compiles recordings made between 1980 and 1985, many of which were originally released on cassette through DD. Records, a DIY founded by Yoshimatsu and Tasashi Kamada. Volume I features the albums Spherical Voyage (1982), Strawberry Secret (1983), and Sepia Renaissance (1983), sources from Yoshimatsu’s archive of home-recorded 4-track material.

Yoshimatsu, born in Yamaguchi City in 1960, released around 40 albums over five years, working under various names and producing for collaborators. DD. Records issued 222 cassette releases before folding in the mid-1980s.

The Zentai series comes after Phantom Limb’s 2024 release of Fossil Cocoon, a collection highlighting Yoshimatsu’s earlier work.
