A posthumous memoir by L7 bassist Jennifer Finch has been announced. Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7 will be released January 19th via publisher Da Capo. The account of Finch’s life is a “candid and clear-eyed memoir that stands apart from the rest with its grounded perspective and bracing, edgy wisdom,” a press release said. The memoir will tell the story of a recovering addict, photographer, co-founder of a pro-choice group and bassist for a groundbreaking all-female hard rock group. The memoir was co-written by Jeff Alulis. The book is available for pre-order via Amazon and other sellers. “Jennifer’s memoir was the last major project she completed before she passed away,” Alulis said in a statement. “She and I worked together for two years to make sure she was happy with every word of it, and with someone as intentional and thoughtful as Jennifer, that was no small task! I’m heartbroken that she won’t get to see it published, but I’m thrilled to share her life and legacy with the world.” Finch died in July from an aggressive form of brain cancer.
