Puscifer have recorded a cover of Low’s “Congregation,” with singer Maynard James Keenan calling it a response to “all the madness going on in Minneapolis.”
Keenan posted the cover on Instagram, including video of him and his bandmates Carina Round and Mat Mitchell recording the song in the studio. The video is accompanied by the following written message from Keenan:
“All the madness going on in Minneapolis sent me down a @lowtheband rabbit hole. Missing Mimi Parker. Carina suggested maybe we cover a song in her and their honor. Merchants of Emotion is in our job description. ‘Discovering New and Awful Ways to Treat Each Other’ wasn’t on my Bingo card for 2026, but here we are. #worldwartres #civilwardeux #smalldickenergy.”
Low were an indie-rock band from Minnesota that existed from 1993 through the 2022 death of singer-drummer Mimi Parker from ovarian cancer. Upon Parker’s passing, Keenan called Low a “huge influence” on his music.
The lyrics to “Congregation” contain such relevant lines as, “The congregation can’t make up its mind/ Incarceration creeps up from behind/ The implication is its own device/ In the middle of a salient fight.”
Puscifer’s new album Normal Isn’t arrives this Friday, February 6th. The band will support the LP with a North American spring tour kicking off March 20th in Las Vegas (pick up tickets here).
