Ratboys have today released their new album, Singin’ to an Empty Chair. Out via New West Records, you can stream the LP below; you can also snag it on vinyl or CD here.
The sixth full-length project from the Chicago band solidifies them as one of the best indie rockers out there. Produced by ex-Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla, the 11-track collection rings with effortless energy (“Anywhere,” “Late Night Mountain All That”) and alt-country charm (“Penny in the Lake,” “The World, So Madly”). We told you years ago that pedal steel was becoming an indie mainstay, and songs like “Just Want You to Know the Truth” utilize it to beautiful results.
Ratboys will support Singin’ to an Empty Chair on a tour kicking off later this month. Get tickets here.
