Red Dead Redemption fans are expecting a big announcement this week following some hints from one of the game’s stars.
There have been plenty of rumours about Red Dead Redemption over the past few weeks. It’s been reported that Rockstar Games are currently working on an updated version of 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. There’s also been speculation about a third Red Dead game, following the news that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch in May 2026.
Now fans are even more excited for what’s to come after Red Dead Redemption actor Rob Wiethoff confirmed an announcement is imminent.
Wiethoff plays John Marston in both Red Dead games, as well as horror spin-off Undead Nightmares. “I’ve got such exciting news. I can’t share it with you right now and it’s absolutely killing me,” he said, taking a brief break from playing the original Red Dead Redemption. “The news that I have to share, and I won’t be the only one sharing it, I can’t wait for you to know what’s going on. It’s the only thing I can think about right now,” he added before confirming the announcement will come “by the end of this week, hopefully sooner…definitely before Friday.”

The original Red Dead Redemption was released back in 2010 while an updated version launched in 2023 for Switch and PlayStation 4. Some fans are hoping the news will be a full remaster of the first Red Dead game while others are expecting an updated version of the 2018 sequel will be announced for later this year.
“Red Dead 3??? Undead Nightmare 2? Please lord let it be,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
“I thought it could be about him announcing a new project or game he’s a voice actor on, but the last line about it being especially hard while playing Red Dead definitely piqued my interest,” added a second fan. “Whatever it may be, I’m excited,” said another.
Earlier this year, PinkPantheress revealed they’re a huge fan of Red Dead Redemption 2 before adding they’re currently playing the “fire” Split Fiction.
In other news, George R.R. Martin has shared his views on the upcoming movie adaptation of Elden Ring, saying he’s confident it “won’t suck.”
