Richard Ayoade has reportedly been involved in a car crash in south-east London.

The incident occurred in East Dulwich on Saturday (June 13), with a Renault apparently hitting a woman and striking another woman, while also hitting a Mercedes SUV that Ayoade was driving.

According to The Sun, Ayoade was seen clutching his neck while getting out of his vehicle, while the area was “swarmed” with paramedics and police, with Ayoade talking to the latter. The cars were later towed away.

Pedestrians were also taken to hospital, though nobody suffered life-changing or life-threatening injuries, according to the Met Police – who are investigating the incident.

“We treated two women at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre,” the London Ambulance Service said.

A witness added: “The Renault came speeding along the road and hit a woman — she ended up on the other side of the roundabout. Then the Renault hit Richard Ayoade’s car.

“It smashed straight into the side of his vehicle and then managed to hit another woman. We heard one of the pedestrians who was hit screaming and crying.”

Ayoade is known for his TV comedy work, including Last One Laughing: UK recently, as well as his work as a director of films such as Submarine and The Double.

Last week, he was announced for the cast of Taskmaster’s 22nd season alongside Little Britain’s Matt Lucas, Peep Show’s Isy Suttie, stand-up Chloe Petts, and comedian and ventriloquist Nina Conti. It comes after the conclusion of season 21 last week, which was won by Gavin & Stacey’s Joanna Page.

“As another triumphant task tournament comes to a close, the almighty Greg Davies and his efficient assistant Alex Horne announce a brand-new five-piece set of distinguished comedians that they are set to score and mark with the utmost scrutiny to determine who will emerge victorious and become the next front-runner to hold aloft that remarkably shiny representation of Greg’s incomparable head and become a Taskmaster Champion,” a statement from the show said.
