Rick Fröberg (Hot Snakes / Drive Like Jehu) visual art collected for new book

In addition to leading many great punk rock bands over the last nearly 40 years — including Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes and Obits — the late Rick Fröberg was also a talented visual artist and graphic designer. His work graced album covers, show flyers, t-shirts, skateboards, books, magazines, and more. Mudhoney‘s Mark Arm says, “Rick Fröberg had one of the great rock voices. He sang and screamed, amused bemusement, naturally, effortlessly, with fine-grained grit. His visual art is equally deft and fluid. And much like his lyrics, the subtle sly humor in his art knocks you out without hitting you over the head.”

That side of Rick’s life is showcased in an upcoming new art book, Plenty for All: The Art of Rick Fröberg, which is out January 6, 2026 via Akashic Books. The 256-page book includes pencil sketches, ink drawings, paintings, commercial illustrations, watercolors, and lots of music-related work.

There’s also a limited special edition that also includes an 8.5″ x 11″ Giclée print of his piece “New Wave,” and an zine titled No Es Justo that looks “into the man behind the work, featuring art not included in the book and writing by those who knew him well, custom stamped with stamps made from Fröberg’s art.”

Preorders for the regular edition and the special edition are available now. Check out the Plenty for All cover, the special edition packaging, and a few pages from the book below.

Rick died in July of 2023 at age 55 from an undiagnosed heart condition. RIP.
