Riot Games has unveiled "Ties That Bind," the official cinematic theme for its upcoming 2v2 fighting game 2XKO, featuring a commanding vocal performance from Courtney LaPlante, frontwoman of the 2x GRAMMY-nominated progressive metal band Spiritbox. And I mean, it's LaPlante singing on a single – of course it riups.
The single release coincides with the 2XKO Early Access launch, opening the highly anticipated League of Legends and Arcane–inspired fighter to players on Windows PC.
"Ties That Bind" arrives during a landmark year for LaPlante and Spiritbox. The band recently celebrated multiple milestones — including their first RIAA Gold certification for the breakout single "Circle With Me." Courtney also featured on BABYMETAL's "My Queen" from the chart-topping Metal Forth album, and appeared alongside Poppy and Amy Lee (Evanescence) on the powerhouse metalcore collaboration "End Of You," which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs chart and peaked at #6 on Spotify's Viral 50 US.
Spiritbox guitarist and producer Mike Stringer also contributed writing to "Ties That Bind," further deepening the creative link between Spiritbox's sonic identity and Riot's cinematic style. Meanwhile, Spiritbox continue to tour heavily behind their latest album Tsunami Sea, with the second leg of their U.S. tour kicking off November 12.
