Detour follows Cyn's debut EP, The Drive Home, released in 2024, and backroads, which dropped last year. Lead single "oooshxt", produced by longtime collaborators Sherwyn, Kendo and Pera, points to a new artistic direction for Cyn, who explores freedom as an essential choice. Speaking about the new song, Cyn says: “I chose freedom in real time, like, I’m here, I feel good, and I’m not dimming it.”
Across the seven-track work, Cyn highlights the importance of freedom in remaining fundamentally human and separating from digital attachments. Following her festival debut at Camp Flog Gnaw last November, Cyn will have the opportunity to bring the new songs to the stage as she heads to London this summer to perform at All Points East Festival on 28 August, as part of Tyler the Creator's two-day takeover.
