Having previously moved through the Seattle music scene in slowcore outfit Carissa’s Wierd and indie rock band Band of Horses, Cahoone went on to release her albums Only as the Day Is Long (2008) and Deer Creek Canyon (2012) on Sub Pop, which she signed to soon after releasing her self-titled debut album in 2006.

“Say Something" marks her return to the label, and is accompanied by a visual directed by Bella Petro. The track was co-produced by Cahoone and John Morgan Askew at Bear Creek Studios, mixed by Askew at Scenic Burrows, and mastered by JJ Golden at Golden Mastering, with contributions from contributions from longtime friends and collaborators Jeff Fielder (acoustic, electric guitar), Daniel Walker (piano, Hammond organ), Jonas Haskins (bass), and Aaron O’Neil (drums).

Speaking about the video concept for "Say Something", Cahoone says, “Filming this video was an absolute blast, walking boot and all! If I had it my way, I would have had the skaters in the video the entire time. They were incredibly entertaining to watch. Bella and Brennan did a fantastic job.”

Cahoone is presently working on an album set for release on Sub Pop this year, and will be her first full-length release since her 2017 album From Where I Started.
