Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras just after midnight on Tuesday, February 17th. TMZ reports the actor is facing two charges of simple battery after he allegedly fought with two men.
According to TMZ, LaBeouf got into the altercation “shirtless with his back tattoo on full display” after being ejected from a bar in the French Quarter. Per The Hollywood Reporter, he had been removed from the premises after allegedly “causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive.”
LaBeouf allegedly hit one man “several times with closed fists,” according to a report from the New Orleans Police Department, before returning to the scene. Despite multiple people trying to restrain him “in hopes that he would leave,” he allegedly punched the same man and another in the nose.
After police arrived on the scene, LaBeouf was treated by EMS workers for unknown injuries and taken to the hospital, where he was arrested.
The arrest came after LaBeouf broke sobriety while on a holiday weekend bar crawl, during which THR sources described him as “somewhat belligerent” and “terrorizing the city.”
LaBeouf, who entered rehab in 2020 for addiction and psychological issues, previously blamed alcoholism for his abusive behavior toward ex-girlfriend FKA twigs.
