A few weeks ago, I interviewed Show Me The Body backstage at Salt Lake City's Kilby Block Party. I was nervous about that one. Even though I like that band a lot, I had this idea that they'd be ultra-serious, monkish types and that the conversation would be awkward as hell: Turns out: No! Those guys are very funny and chill, and I would hang out with them whenever. Their festival set destroyed, too. I'm not even sure why I'm telling you this, but it's the sort of thing I would want to know.
Anyway! Show Me The Body are getting ready to release their new album Alone Together, which they recorded with big-deal producers Kenneth Blume and Klas Åhlund right before those same guys produced the upcoming Weezer album. Thus far, we've heard two singles from Alone Together, "Dance In The USA" and "No God."
Today, SMTB share album opener "Eat For Peace," which is a pretty straightforward punk anthem, especially when compared to this group's more mysterious material. Frontman Julian Cashwan Pratt barks about fighting to protect the people you love. In a press release, he says, "It’s the first message we communicate, one that defines this record as well as who we are. 'Radical love compels me to fight' — it’s the credo."
Show Me The Body shot their "Eat For Peace" video during their weekly CORPUS Self Defense Training sessions at Brooklyn's McCarren Park. If you're interested, those sessions are happening every Sunday, from 2PM to 4PM, this June, July, and August.
Also! Show Me The Body just announced a tour. That's big news, since they are a monster live act and because they always put together extremely sick touring packages. This one includes the Bangkok heavy hardcore crushers Whispers, the Baltimore speed demons Jivebomb, and the fast-rising metallic screamo revivalists Holder. Lip Critic will jump on for the Philadelphia and New York dates, and the NYC gig will be the first no-barrier show at Webster Hall in more than 10 years. To put together a supporting lineup like that, you must have absolutely zero fear of getting blown offstage. Below, check out the "Eat For Peace" video and SMTB's upcoming tour dates.
