The surviving members of Soundgarden reunited for a halftime performance at the Seattle Seahawks’ home opener against the New England Patriots at Lumen Field on Wednesday night. The band was fronted by The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen, with Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready providing additional guitar. Momsen and McCready joined Soundgarden’s Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil, and Ben Shepherd to perform “Outshined” and “Spoonman” during the halftime festivities. However, NBC didn’t air the performance, leaving many viewers upset. McCready also performed the National Anthem on guitar prior to the game, which kicked off the NFL’s 2026-2027 season and featured a rematch of the most recent Super Bowl. Just like the Super Bowl, Seattle came out victorious on Wednesday night, beating New England 13-10. Since frontman Chris Cornell’s death in May 2017, Soundgarden have only performed a handful of gigs with guest singers.
