With one secret headliner still to be confirmed, some bona fide music legends from across the last three decades – as well as some old cult favourites from the festival's history – will help celebrate the event's 20th anniversary, on an incredible lineup already topped by Pulp, CMAT and Mac DeMarco, announced back in November last year.
Super Furry Animals – who last played live ten years ago (and headlined the festival in 2007) – are coming back to Dorset as part of a handful of dates running throughout the spring and summer. It'll be Gruff Rhys' fifth time playing at Larmer Tree Gardens; the Super Furries frontman also joined Bill Ryder Jones for a Best Fit secret session there in 2024.
Brighton four-piece Brakes – who first played at End of the Road in 2006, the festival's inaugural year – are veterans of the stages at Larmer Tree Gardens and will play their 2005 debut Give Blood in full.
81-year-old experimental artist Beverly Glenn-Copeland – whose show forms part of his last ever tour – will perform alongside his partner Elizabeth Copeland, while Americana firebrand Lucinda Williams is back at End of the Road after her 2017 headline slot. Another prodigal return is Philly legend Kurt Vile - who's expected to drop a new record this year. Vile was last at the festival in 2022, where he also covered The Feelies for Best Fit's secret sessions. Ty Segall – who also played at the festival's tenth anniversary edition - is also back this year too, as is the chaotic live spectacle of Fat Dog.
The festival's incredible undercard brings in emo/post-rock emo experimentalist Caroline, Partisan-signed Irish shoegazers Just Mustard, justifiably hyped Irish post-punk-folk band Madra Salach, Manchester electronic duo SILVERWINGKILLER, New York art-punk outfit Model/Actriz, noise-headfuckers YHWH Nailgun, XL-signed producer and singer keiyaA, and Best Fit 2025 album of the year creator Anna von Hausswolff.
The festival will also be giving over curation of a stage to 2026 headliner, Mac DeMarco. A familiar face at the festival – including a memorable festival debut for its tenth anniversary in 2015 [pictured above] – DeMarco has put together a one-off label takeover for his Mac’s Record Label imprint on Friday, 4 September featuring Daryl Johns, Pedro Martins, Tex Crick and Vicky Farewell, "I am incredibly excited to share these humans with you. Also, their music," DeMarco states.
Among the more leftfield names the festival has booked are New York-born vocalist, producer and Yves Tumor collaborator james K, South African collective BCUC, Scottish smallpipes player Brìghde Chaimbeul, British-born Nigerian poet Joshua Idehen, esoteric eight-piece Brighton collective Big Long Sun, and Dave Welder – director Ben Wheatley’s musical project, who make their first ever festival appearance after dropping almost 30 albums in less than two years.
